About The Position

This position is a key member of the OrthoHealth patient care team performing clinical and clerical services to support physicians and other healthcare providers in the delivery of high quality care.

Requirements

  • Medical Asst certification or college degree in healthcare field
  • CPR certified
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Phlebotomy skills, collecting and preparing laboratory specimen
  • Empathic and sensitive to patients struggling with obesity
  • Willingness to learn about the disease of obesity and patient centered language
  • Understanding of medications, obtaining prior authorizations
  • Team player with ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Detailed oriented and demonstrates effective time management
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 2t pounds to waist height
  • Ability to be standing and sitting on a frequent basis during the day
  • Ability to work on a computer on a frequent basis during the day

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and familiarity with Epic EMR system is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Greets and rooms patients
  • Takes patient subjective, review medical history, medication list , etc
  • Takes and records patient vitals and measurements imperative to OH program
  • Prepares rooms and ensure supplies are ready, ordering more when necessary
  • Navigates EMR software platforms for appointment/document review/retrieval
  • Answers phone calls, respond to patient questions, and take messages
  • Assists with front desk duties as assigned
  • Educates patients on health conditions, treatment, and medications
  • Addresses patient questions regarding plan of care
  • Manages pre-authorizations for prescribed medication as needed
  • Transmits prescription refills as directed
  • Starts new patient’s initial note from physician template from patient intake prior to patient appointment
  • Performing administrative office procedures, including: coordinating appointments and procedures for patients, gathering and managing necessary documents (i.e. medical record, test results), triaging and responding to physician’s phone calls, as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • All other duties as assigned
