As a Medical Support Specialist at Diversus Health, you will work closely with psychiatric prescribers and the care team to support medication management and continuity of care in an outpatient behavioral health setting. This position is ideal for MAs who are compassionate, detail-oriented, and interested in supporting patients receiving psychiatric medications, including ongoing monitoring, education, and follow-up. You will play a critical role in supporting psychiatric and behavioral health medication services, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (required)
  • Ability to administer injections, perform phlebotomy, and complete CLIA-waived testing under Colorado Medical Board and DORA delegation guidelines
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings
  • Familiarity with behavioral health medication workflows, prior authorizations, and monitoring labs
  • Experience supporting outpatient or community mental health services
  • EMTs or military-trained medical personnel with equivalent credentials aligned with Colorado regulations

Responsibilities

  • Support psychiatric providers during medication management visits
  • Perform patient intake, behavioral health screening support, medication reconciliation, vital signs, and documentation
  • Room patients for in-person psychiatric visits or connect patients to telepsychiatry appointments
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms using infection prevention standards
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, height, weight, SpO₂) and promptly report abnormalities to licensed staff
  • Administer psychiatric medication injections and perform phlebotomy under delegated authority
  • Perform and document CLIA-waived testing related to medication monitoring and behavioral health protocols
  • Enter lab orders and track results related to psychiatric medication monitoring
  • Review patient charts prior to appointments to identify medication, lab, and documentation needs
  • Assist with prior authorizations, refills, and coordination with pharmacies
  • Complete CCARs and required assessments for medication-only behavioral health clients
  • Coordinate referrals related to psychiatric care and follow up on completion
  • Conduct patient outreach to support adherence, follow-up appointments, and provider access
  • Schedule psychiatric appointments and support provider productivity and access
  • Facilitate telepsychiatry visits, including basic technology navigation and troubleshooting
  • Accurately update and maintain patient records in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Communicate professionally with patients, psychiatric providers, therapists, pharmacies, and external partners
  • Participate in team huddles and collaborate within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
  • Monitor and maintain clinic supplies and remove expired materials
