About The Position

Gastro Florida is the largest gastroenterology group in Tampa Bay with over 65 providers and over 25 locations across multiple counties. The group offers a comprehensive range of G.I. services, including screening, treatment, colon cancer prevention, non-surgical cancer intervention, IBD infusions & therapy, nutrition & weight loss, patient monitoring, pharmacy & pathology services, and clinical research. The mission is to provide general and advanced/interventional gastroenterology services in an Affable, Affordable & Accessible manner for Accurate Answers. The company is seeking competent, conscientious, service-oriented experienced Medical Assistants with strong character to work in one of their gastroenterology medical offices in Tampa Bay. This role primarily involves supporting clinicians in exam rooms and alongside them, under the direction of the division practice manager. The ideal candidate is confident in a fast-paced outpatient environment, comfortable with high volume patient loads, and able to integrate quickly with minimal training.

Requirements

• Previous specialty office care experience is required
• Reliable attendance is essential
• Ability to float to different locations as needed
• Criminal background and drug screening required
• Excellent professional references

Nice To Haves

• Previous GI experience helpful
• Immediate availability preferred

Responsibilities

• Patient check-in and check-out
• Insurance verification
• Patient intake, vitals, medication reconciliation
• Completing medication refills and processing medication prior authorizations
• Order entry, CPT coding, and supporting the providers with documentation
• Understanding of common medications used to treat chronic conditions
• Strong proficiency with eClinicalWorks (ECW)
• Managing the fax inbox, including timely review, routing, and documentation
• Scheduling patient appointments, follow-ups, scheduling procedures (Colon, EGD, etc.) and coordinating provider workflows
