About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; must be from an accredited institution and meet the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements.
  • Must have excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills.
  • Excellent attendance and attention to detail.
  • Compassion and empathy.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital).

Nice To Haves

  • Current Michigan Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) or equivalent experience or training is desirable.
  • Strong interest in and aptitude for a career in healthcare (will train individuals with this).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by completing medical history and other required forms, collecting and recording patient vital signs, and performing point of care testing (POCT).
  • Set up rooms with necessary equipment and supplies as appropriate for procedures, explain processes and tests to patients, and provide relevant materials to patients.
  • Assist provider during procedures and chaperone as needed.
  • Carry out provider orders at time of provider visit or in follow up. This may include injections, breathing treatment, EKG, dressing changes, weight check, and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Conduct and follow up on lab tests including blood draws and urine samples.
  • Ensure all specimens are properly and accurately labeled, review test results, complete related paperwork and assure results are available to providers and documented in patient records.
  • Clean and sterilize lab test equipment and instruments.
  • Keep exam rooms clean and fully stocked with supplies.
  • Abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.
  • If it becomes necessary to meet patient care needs, you may be required to float to other clinics.
