About The Position

Baptist Urgent Care is seeking experienced Medical Assistants to join their team in Jackson, TN. This role involves providing clinical care to patients across urgent care, occupational health, and workers’ compensation settings. Key duties include initial patient evaluations, performing x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider assessment by documenting histories, vital signs, and other relevant information, while also identifying acuity levels for appropriate intervention. Baptist Urgent Care is an affiliate of Urgent Team, one of the largest independent operators of urgent and family care centers in the Southeast, with over 80 locations under eight brands across Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas. The centers offer convenient, walk-in healthcare services for injuries, illnesses, occupational health, and wellness, operating seven days a week. All Baptist Urgent Care centers hold an Accredited Care Centers designation from the Urgent Care Association, signifying a commitment to safety, quality, and comprehensive services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
  • Experience performing X-Rays is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients promptly and provide clear communication about next steps and wait times
  • Offer solutions to patient concerns and seek help in emergent or hazardous situations
  • Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results; execute follow-up calls with urgency
  • Support front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures when needed
  • Accurately document vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent details
  • Assist with patient transfers, procedures, and lab work under provider supervision
  • Prepare and shoot X-Rays, ensuring proper positioning, safety, radiation protection, and shielding
  • Complete all required visit documentation and maintain stocked, clean exam rooms
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained and directed
