About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting, including direct, hands-on patient care (obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures such as EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines) OR Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on patient experience as part of the curriculum
  • Successful completion of clinical competency assessment and MA orientation upon hire (those not meeting standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR System
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
