The Occupational Medicine Service area is now hiring a M edical Assistant for our STARS Work er Rehabilitation clinic located on the Boise Regional Medical Cen ter campus! Position Summary & Highlights : This MA position will work at our STARS Worker Rehabilitation clinic and will assist a physical therapist with patient care and related administrative duties. Our STARS Worker Rehabilitation clinic focuses on physical therapy to help patients regain physical strength, endurance, and safety habits so they can return to work. This clinic is part of the Saint Alphonsus Occupational Medicine services and works closely with employers to minimize costs of work-related injuries and illnesses. Th is clinic see s both scheduled and walk-in patients making each day different regarding patient volumes and patient complexity. Occupational Medicine clinics provide personalized attention from the worksite to our clinics, allows us to address safety concerns before injuries occur to avoid recordable incidents. And our care helps employees heal and return to work quickly, so employers can control time loss and focus on business as usual. What You Will Do : You will work under the MA certification scope of practice working alongside a Physical Therapist and PT Aide to help patients recover their physical strength, endurance, and safety habits to be able to return to work after a workplace related injury . This is accomplished through work conditioning and hardening. F ulfill related admin istrative duties such as appointment scheduling, and sending documentation to appropriate stakeholders , etc. Perform d rug and alcohol testing when needed. W ork closely with employers, insurance adjusters, case managers, Saint Alphonsus occupational medicine clinics, and patients. Process related paperwork and work through the workers compensation process, including initiating, processing, and communicating with sureties and specialists pertaining to referrals. W ork and be crossed trained in front office duties by our patient services reps. You may be asked to occasionally work at the occupational medicine clinics i n the back office in the MA role and will assist patients with navigating the workers compensation system, perform drug screen collection, breath/alcohol testing, pulmonary function testing, TB testing, vaccinations, spirometry, EKGs, and audiograms. An ideal candidate will have : Solid verbal and written communication skills, is flexible and adaptable , and has a positive attitude. Strong attention to detail , organizational, and prioritizing skills . Proficient computer skills with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office products . Experience with providing a high level of customer/patient service as well as a high level of compassion and have an understanding of workers compensation as it pertains to occupational medicine. You will be open and honest and enjoy providing feedback and solutions to resolve problems. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) American Medical Technologists (RMA) National Healthcare Association (CCMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA) National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA) American Medical Certification Association (CMAC) National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school.
  • Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
  • 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire
