The Medical Assistant provides comfortable, safe, and professional care for clinic patients, ranging from infant through geriatric. The role involves maintaining an efficient flow of patients for the clinician, ensuring working knowledge of all equipment and required QA checks, and managing supplies. Key functions include working with clinic staff to provide patient-centered care, assisting physicians and providers by collecting patient vital signs and other pertinent data, escorting patients to exam rooms, and obtaining brief medical histories. The Medical Assistant also assists with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments, sterilizes and sets up instruments, and prepares examination rooms. Additional responsibilities include stocking supplies, educating patients and families, scheduling testing procedures, and ensuring all test results and reports are scanned into the patient chart. The position also involves authorizing and faxing refill requests, completing routine medical office duties such as cleaning and ordering supplies, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient care. Communication duties include answering telephones, routing callers, taking messages, returning phone calls, and efficiently working within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
