About The Position

Duties will include: The employee will perform a combination of the following duties under direction of a provider; screen all patients for medical histories, recording vital signs, EKG. Recording X-Ray and or Sonogram in patient medical record charts. Prepare patient for examination and may or occasionally assist the provider as necessary during the examination. The Medical Assistant is responsible to scheduling of patients for follow up as necessary; collect and prepare laboratory specimens, phlebotomy. Ensure the appropriate disposal of contaminated supplies; prepare instruments for sterilization; responsible for stocking examination rooms; order supplies as necessary. Maintain communication with the various health agencies; immunization reporting; communicable diseases etc. to ensure patient information is updated. Moving equipment when or where necessary. Assist in the examination and treatment of patient. Operate equipment and perform EKG as indicated. Prepare patient medical record (chart) and or EMR with appropriate intake sheets. Gather information, complaints, take vital signs, perform various tests as ordered. Logging in patient medical record and or EMR Laboratory and Radiology results. Ability to perform directives as requested by the various physicians. Completing various forms for Medical; Physical; Disability; and Schools. Track inventory for supplies, vaccines etc. Interview patient. Ensures chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for the provider when the provider sees the patient. Assist with maintaining the patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Assists in escorting patients and specimens throughout the facility. Setting up examination rooms for various primary and specialty care physicians. Distribute appropriate educational material to patient as directed. Assisting in the authorization of prescription refills as directed by the physician. Recall or Rescheduling of patients as instructed. Trained in the area of Medical Assisting with certification from a Vocational/Technical or career program. Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff. Securing and ensuring Confidentiality of sensitive information. Able to communicate effectively and maintain patient records, files, report and other correspondence. Intake of patient medical history prior to provider examination, complete time out form, point of care testing including nasal and throat swab, CIR updating, and STD reporting. Track temperature in refrigerator/freezer; complete appropriate forms. Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year job-related experience
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff
  • Securing and ensuring Confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Able to communicate effectively and maintain patient records, files, report and other correspondence
