About The Position

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. No weekends or evenings. Shift times may vary based on department needs. Located in Encinitas off Santa Fe Drive but you may be floated to other Scripps Clinics on an as needed basis. Why join Scripps Health? What you'll do: Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis

Requirements

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

One year of experience as an MA in an outpatient setting
OBGYN clinic experience

Responsibilities

Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
Collecting patient data in person and by phone
Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
Scheduling of appointments and procedures
Complete and accurate message taking
Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics
