We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Surgery Center and work alongside our RN’s & Physicians in our renowned, multi-subspecialty eye care group. As a Medical Assistant you will provide perioperative care to patients undergoing procedures, under the direction of registered nurses and surgeons. The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing exemplary patient care alongside our Physicians as we treat cataracts, glaucoma, diseases of the cornea, and perform vision correction surgeries. You’ll exercise good clinical judgement during Pre-Op/Post Op care and ensure all policies and procedures are being followed. You’ll manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced PACU and OR while exhibiting sound judgement and problem-solving skills. You’ll prepare rooms and patients for procedures, assist providers and other staff as needed, and record and update the drugs selected for patient care in the inventory tracking system. Requirements

  • You have 1+ years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
  • Graduate with Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Multi-Skilled Technician certificate.
  • CEUs as required by Infection Control Liaison.
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED);
  • You’re detail oriented and a strong communicator
  • BLS certification required
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IV therapy is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding patient care on a daily basis
  • Assist MDs, RNs, and LPNs as necessary with pre/post op patients
  • carefully monitor patients
  • Prepare patient for surgery and manage recovery and discharge procedures
  • Collect comprehensive data on patients’ health (from patients and/or family members); Analyze data to determine needs.
  • Assisting the physician in treatments and procedures and ensuring that all physician orders are carried out appropriately and timely; work collaboratively with ancillary staff, including Patient Care Assistants
  • Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment
  • Support departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the surgery center
