About The Position

The Women's Health Medical Assistant will perform certain clinical duties as needed and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The MA will complete a training program as directed by the MA Training Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in Hospital or Clinical setting
  • The ability to obtain National Certification within two years of date of hire with Aviva Health.
  • BLS certification (maintaining current certification is required for continued employment).
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology.
  • Proven leadership experience, ability to work independently, detail oriented, organized, work effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office procedures, patient flow, triage and scheduling.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word and writing clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients which includes, but is not limited to the following duties performed accurately and efficiently: obtaining vital signs, verifying medications (medication reconciliation), medical history, and obtaining other pertinent information.
  • Accurately enter information into EMR and strictly adhere to the HIPAA policy and procedures.
  • Assist physicians and nurses as needed.
  • Perform EKG’s.
  • Perform peak flows/spirometry, administer of O2 and respiratory treatments as directed by provider.
  • Perform in-office labs and UDS and normal lab call backs.
  • Perform routine prescription refills under the supervision of the MA Lead.
  • Enter orders accurately for medication and labs as directed by provider.
  • Scrub charts/huddle with provider and team daily.
  • Perform blood draws, if competency requirements have been met; injections and immunization administration.
  • Assist with procedures/non-complicated wound care; suture/staple removal after patient seen by provider.
  • Stock and clean rooms; package instruments for the Autoclave.
  • Schedule patients for follow-up per provider.
  • Assist team with desktop items and answer telephone calls.
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures).
  • Follow all Aviva Health policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties as needed.
