About The Position

Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW) is seeking a Care Team Specialist (CTS) to join their collaborative, patient-centered clinic team. This role is crucial in supporting both clinical and administrative workflows to ensure high-quality patient care and a smooth patient experience. The position is a .90 FTE, equivalent to 36 hours per week, and is eligible for a $3000 incentive for joining GHC-SCW. Requirements

  • Must meet the requirements for a Medical Assistant (MA), a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or an EMT
  • Medical Assistants must have successfully completed an MA training program from an accredited school or program and must be eligible for and receive national certification within six (6) months of employment OR must have three years of MA experience and have current national certification
  • Medical Assistants must obtain national certification from one of the following certifying organizations and must maintain certification by meeting CME requirements: National Healthcareer Association (CCMA); or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA); or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or By an approved and accredited certifying organization with CME requirements
  • Licensed Practical Nurses must have successfully completed an LPN training program from an accredited school or program
  • LPNs must have current licensure as a practical nurse in the State of Wisconsin or must obtain licensure as a practical nurse in the State of Wisconsin within six (6) months of employment
  • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) must have successfully completed an approved training program and have a valid State of Wisconsin license of one of the following: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT); or Paramedic (EMT-P)
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required
  • Employee must obtain CPR/AED certification within four (4) months of employment
  • Ability to travel to various work sites
  • Employee is expected to provide personal transportation
  • Possession of a valid, Wisconsin driver license if the employee is operating a motor vehicle
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform or learn standard clinical procedures according to established protocols and policies
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn how to properly use and maintain equipment, materials and supplies used during the course of treatment
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and use computer-based applications such as MS Office, electronic medical record systems and scheduling applications
  • Must type a minimum of 30 WPM with minimal errors
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn outpatient clinical administrative procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of basic pharmacology
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards
  • Ability to recognize, identify and report problems to appropriate personnel
  • Basic understanding or ability to learn about reimbursement/insurance practices for medical care
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices
  • Ability to instruct patients and/or families as to the basic nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care, treatments and follow-up
  • Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation
  • Knowledge of interviewing practices and techniques used in order to gather information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with patients, family members, visitors, and members of the healthcare team in a respectful manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be culturally sensitive and to work with a diverse patient population
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with patients and staff
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel and crouch
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time

Nice To Haves
