About The Position

Monterey Medical is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our clinical team in providing high-quality disability and occupational health evaluations. In this role, you will work closely with Nurse Practitioners and other providers to assist with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams for Veterans, pre-employment physicals, Department of Transportation (DOT) exams, and other occupational health assessments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred).
  • Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience in occupational health, urgent care, or primary care preferred but not required.
  • Ability to draw blood and urine samples for drug testing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with providers and administrative staff.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, verify information, and prepare exam rooms.
  • Assist providers during medical disability exams, occupational physicals, and DOT exams.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests (e.g., vision, hearing, EKG, spirometry).
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for procedures; ensure exam rooms are properly stocked.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with regulations.
  • Educate patients on exam processes and ensure their comfort throughout the visit.
  • Support clinical provider (NP/PA) with administrative tasks as needed.
