About The Position

Looking for a Full Time MA working with two doctors at a busy Orthopedic practice. Would be in office five days. Would preform admin duties to support clinic and bring patients back. Doctors have clinic on separate days, so you would alternate days with the two providers. Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician/physician assistant. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of two years of experience.
  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions
  • The ability to administer immunizations.

Responsibilities

  • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies; utilizing Polices, MAPS and start talking.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, or completing insurance forms.
  • Responsible for charting all medical conversations in the patient chart and following up with the patient as indicated.
  • Responsible for all prior authorizations for advanced imaging.
  • Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
  • Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.
  • Change dressings on wounds.
  • Set up medical laboratory equipment.
  • Assist any physician in the practice as needed. Must be able to adjust to and accommodate the needs of any physician.
  • Able to recognize signs of infection either visually or with questioning over the phone and act accordingly and with urgency in contacting the treating physician or another physician available.
  • Responsible to view in advance provider schedules, start times, and prepping records prior to the start of clinic.
  • Assist in the training of new team members on procedures and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
