About The Position

Provides support for outpatient behavioral healthcare practices while demonstrating excellent customer service. Maintains regulatory compliance by coordinating with internal and external customers (clinicians, patients, patient family members, vendors, visitors, colleagues, etc.) in order to process assigned patient support services including patient appointments, prescription requests, office visits, phone calls, letters, and communication documentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of related experience.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communications.
  • Demonstrated patient care skills.
  • Demonstrated PC skills.
  • Effective organization of multi-task role.
  • Understanding of healthcare delivery processes in the medical office.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an approved medical assistant educational program strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and engages patients and visitors according to established protocols, demonstrating excellent customer service in every interaction.
  • Communicates schedule and clinical information to patients, co-workers, and clinical staff as needed and appropriate.
  • Assists in coordination of care through messages, faxes, phone calls, emails, etc. for communication to providers, patients, pharmacies, and other healthcare resources.
  • Schedules tests and appointments for referred services and tracks to ensure completion.
  • Reconciles medication list as appropriate for clinical documentation.
  • Addresses work queue tasks and provides communication and documentation in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
  • Determines eligibility and benefits to accommodate patient's prescription coverage.
  • Communicates most recent appointment information to prescriber to ensure compliance for medication administration.
  • Successfully uses computer software applications to accomplish tasks according to policies and procedures.
  • Designated as a delegate to run Oklahoma OBNDD reports under the prescription monitoring program in compliance with HB 1948 to support prescriber compliance and decision making in consideration of prescribing controlled substances.
  • Obtains and tracks authorization for services and medications as required.
  • Documents prior authorizations according to established procedures to archive history for future authorizations.
  • Updates, corrects, and/or edits documentation for to ensure medication coverage and fulfillment.
  • Participates in quality initiatives and safety functions.
  • Assists in identifying and ordering needed supplies.
  • Remains informed and compliant with current Health System, OSHA, Joint Commission, PQRS, and HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.
