This job, under general supervision, leads all operational functions related to staff development/training. Requirements

  • Education Required - High School diploma or equivalent
  • Work Experience Required - Experience working with and maintaining confidential information including experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Certifications Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Enables operations by effectively managing the patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Retrieves and collates patient information for the Provider and communicates pertinent patient-related information to the Physician.
  • Performs vital signs and other screenings, obtaining height, weight, allergy and medication history and other assessments as part of the Ochsner protocol.
  • Prepare patient for exam, explaining any procedures before they are performed and answering the patients’ questions.
  • Performs, under the supervision of a licensed health care provider, and assists Physician with procedures.
  • Ensures patients’ questions are addressed either while at the appointment or via phone as part of preparation or follow up for appointments, procedures, etc., within an appropriate time frame.
  • Ensures the patient receives necessary prescriptions, materials, handouts, etc. and escalates any patient concerns to a Licensed Healthcare Provider as appropriate.
  • Cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms, procedure rooms, workstations, instruments and equipment.
  • Schedules and reschedules patient appointments by phone or in person, including transferring patients to the appropriate departments for scheduling and updating necessary information.
  • Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development.
  • Adapts behavior as needed to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
