The Medical Assistant provides high quality, direct patient care in a team-based model to BIDHC patients and supports smooth and efficient administrative and clinical practice operations. The Medical Assistant has the ability to work with people from different backgrounds and respects the beliefs of all patients and team members. This role contributes to BIDHC patient, practice, and organizational goals through relationship development and care team coordination, developing long term empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues. The Medical Assistant also assists patients throughout their visit, communicates clearly with patients and the team, performs medical assisting duties under proper supervision, leads population health efforts, monitors and maintains medical equipment and supplies, works within the electronic health record system (EHR) for prescriptions and orders, schedules diagnostic and lab tests, and ensures OSHA compliance and patient safety.
