About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! Medical Assistants are an important member of the clinical team and assure that patients have a positive, caring and professional experience during their office visit. Our MA will work alongside the provider performing routine administrative and clinical assignments, to keep the medical facility running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields required
  • Dermatology experience is preferred, but not required for position. Training for medical and surgical procedures will be provided upon hiring.
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred (will need to provide documentation)
  • Ability to work well with providers to anticipate and support their needs
  • Build rapport with other staff members
  • Familiarity with medical billing procedures
  • Excellent Communication skills and strong organizational skills are a must
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
  • Handle all duties in a timely manner
  • Supply ordering & inventory
  • Obtain and update the complete patient history and chief complaint
  • Greet incoming patients and escort them to exam rooms
  • Check for any outstanding biopsies, bloodwork, etc.
  • Assist providers with medical & cosmetic procedures
  • Provide and reinforce patient education following procedures and office visits
  • Set up for select procedures including biopsies, surgical procedures
  • Perform the following procedures: dressing changes, suture removal after demonstrating competency and approved by provider, taking patient measurements utilizing the landmarks
  • Complete pathology requisition forms with complete and updated patient information
  • Maintain a daily log of biopsies and cultures performed by each provider
  • Maintain an accurate account of specimens and record on cover sheets of lab bags
  • Clean and sterilize instruments
  • Maintain medical supply inventory
  • Clean, organize and supply patient rooms
  • Dispose of garbage and medical waste material
  • Check rooms at end of day to make certain they are stocked for the next day
  • Review and follow posted OSHA instructions/requirements including hazardous waste, needle stick injuries, emergency evacuations, etc.
