About The Position

The Float Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting patient care across multiple DOCS locations. This position is scheduled as needed and picks up shifts based on coverage needs, including weekends or evenings if applicable. The ideal float MA brings consistency, adaptability, and high-quality patient care to every clinic they support.

Requirements

  • Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy

  • Willingness to work across multiple sites and adjust to different team workflows and provider preferences
  • Able to pick up shifts with short notice, learn quickly, and navigate changing environments with ease
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to upholding company standards regardless of location
  • Takes ownership of patient care and supports clinic needs proactively without being asked

Responsibilities

  • Taking vital signs
  • Performing Point-of-Care Testing
  • Performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and other diagnostic tests
  • Assisting with minor procedures
  • Ensuring infection control and safety protocols
  • Managing patient flow and supporting providers as needed
  • Maintaining accurate patient documentation
  • Coordinating referrals and pre-authorizations
  • Handling inventory and supply restocking
