About The Position

Responsible for front and back office as well as assisting Physicians and Nurses with medical examination and performing Urodynamic Testing of patients.

Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA or CMA).
• Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years.
• Experience performing relevant functions in a doctor’s office preferred.
• Must have some working knowledge of computers.
• Customer service-oriented individual is required.
• Experience with Obstetrics, Gynecology and Urology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Urodynamic Testing on patients.
• Skilled at placing urethral catheters.
• Prepares charts for the next day; reviewing records from previous visit or new patient referrals, obtaining records from hospital or other inpatient/outpatient facilities, laboratory facilities to ensure the provider has all pertinent information at the time of the patient visit.
• Obtains insurance carrier prior authorization for patient medications when needed.
• Checks-in and checks-out patients, obtains and writes referrals, when appropriately trained and directed, and schedules outside appointments with specialists.
• Gives directions to patients and visitors.
• Handles pick-up and drop off of medications.
• Phone triage.
• Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure.
• May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN, collect and process urine samples (clean catch and straight cath specimens).
• Chaperons when appropriate and assists during certain minor surgeries and diagnostic procedures, such as Pap Smears.
• Maintains clean, well-equipped examination rooms; cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Stocks examination rooms and triage area with medical supplies.
• Inventories and reorders supplies.
• Document all information in EMR.
• Prepare education packets.
• Transport patients to hospital/ED when necessary.
• Check EMR tasks daily.
• Review patient lab results, discuss abnormal findings with the physician and follow up with patient with regard to treatment as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs.
• Travel between locations is required when needed.
