The Medical Assistant position plays a crucial role in this mission, assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of patients and performing various delegated duties under physician direction. This includes interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), recording information on patient charts, and preparing treatment rooms. The role requires cross-training to enhance efficiency and continuity of patient care, working cooperatively within a team, and demonstrating flexibility, motivation, and commitment to quality patient care. Tasks encompass patient-related duties, medical record maintenance/documentation, and safety/environmental responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), through AMT, NCCT, or NHA, or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by AAMA
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Current and active LPN licensure also acceptable
  • EKG
  • Injections
  • Venipuncture
  • Performance of common lab tests according to establish CLIA guidelines and TriHealth policy
  • Up to 1 year experience medical/physician office setting

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician in examination and treatment of patients
  • Perform miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of physician
  • Interview patients
  • Measure vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height
  • Record information on patients' charts
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
  • Perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care
  • Work cooperatively within the team concept demonstrating flexibility, motivation and commitment to quality patient care
  • Perform patient related duties
  • Perform medical record maintenance/documentation
  • Perform safety/environmental duties
  • Exhibit professional image and behavior toward patients, visitors, physicians and employees and create a positive impression consistent with professional etiquette
  • Demonstrate flexibility and/or initiative in seeking or accepting additional assignments
  • Exhibit dependability in areas such as attendance, punctuality and the timely performance of duties
  • Demonstrate proficiency in assisting with medical procedures on adults and children
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the treatment area
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of clean and sterile procedures in the use of medical equipment
