About The Position

The Medical Assistant at St. Luke's West Allentown Primary Care plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare delivery within the practice. Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Graduates of accredited Medical Assistant programs are strongly preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is strongly preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating the patient's medical record prior to the appointment.
  • Completes pre-charting of all value-based pieces up to five days prior to the patient's appointment.
  • Responsible for preparing patients for examination and escorting them into the exam room, including taking vital signs and updating medical history.
  • Provides other patient care services as needed, such as maintaining exam room cleanliness and assisting with injections or immunizations.
  • Communicates and coordinates with providers regarding patient care and follow-up needs.
  • Actively participates in departmental activities and meetings, contributing to problem resolution and procedure analysis.
  • Responsible for disposing of bio-hazardous waste and maintaining clinical supplies.
  • Maintains vaccine temperature logs and manages inventory of medical supplies.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as check-in and check-out functions.
  • Brings suggestions for improvement to Practice Managers and Providers.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives.
