About The Position

This is not a remote position. The role is part-time with variable days and times, as the office is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Shifts are available from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. The pay range for this position is $20.40 - $32.20.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Must have a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: CMA from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA from National Health career Association (NHA), NCMA from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), RMA from American Medical Technologists (AMT), RMA from American Allied Health, NCMSMA from National Healthcare Worker’s Association (NHCWA), NRCMA from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), NRMA from National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA).
• Education Required: GED or HS Equivalency Diploma. Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant.
• Experience Required: No experience required, 1 year preferred.

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking.
• Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
• Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross trained to perform duties that are relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the Medical Assistant.
• Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
• Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately.
• Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
