About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of experience in a clinical medical assistant role or completion of an accredited medical office assistant education program or phlebotomy program.
• Knowledge of vital signs and phlebotomy procedures.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and keep them neat and clean.
• Prepare medical instruments or equipment for use.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs.
• Update patient history and reconcile medications and allergies.
• Interview patients to obtain medical history and determine reasons for seeking care.
• Record and update information accurately in patient charts, completing chart prep 24-48 hours prior to appointments.
• Log accurate data for specimen testing.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies according to OSHA standards.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, or physicians' instructions to patients.
• Answer telephone calls, take messages, and forward them to appropriate personnel.
• Keep supplies stocked and order as needed.
• Ensure patient and practice confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA standards.
• Maintain a working knowledge of medical terminology.
