About The Position

The Medical Assistant position at Urology Specialists in Battle Creek involves providing general nursing functions under the direction of healthcare providers. Requirements

• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred; otherwise, eligibility to take the CMA or RMA required.
• Previous clinical experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) or Registration (RMA) required within 3 months of hire.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of clinical skills as required with Medical Assistant Certification/Registration.
• Effective problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, doctors, and other staff.
• Personal computer skills with EMR experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs and immunizations.
• Provide initial patient assessment and obtain concise patient history.
• Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, and care.
• Process and post information to patient's chart.
• Administer treatments as requested by the physician.
• Obtain specimens for urine testing and perform laboratory tests as directed by the physician.
• Prepare patients for examinations and document pertinent information in charts.
• Schedule outside tests or procedures for patients in other departments.
• Coordinate admissions, referrals, and call in prescriptions.
• Assist in the scheduling of appointments in the EMR system.
• Stock exam rooms with supplies and conduct day-to-day inventory.
• Attend staff, educational, or other meetings as required.
