About The Position

The Per Diem Medical Assistant at Westmed Medical Group plays a crucial role in supporting the Urgent Care team by assisting physicians in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves a variety of tasks including patient interaction, medical assistance, clerical support, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. The Medical Assistant is expected to work in a fast-paced setting, ensuring that patient flow is maintained and that all necessary medical procedures are performed accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certificate or completion of a MA program required.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Ability to multitask in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Phlebotomy certification and experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce self to patients and escort them into exam rooms.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height as needed.
  • Assist patients and physicians throughout the visit.
  • Collect, label, and process specimens accurately.
  • Maintain clean patient exam rooms.
  • Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice.
  • Prepare instruments for sterilization and dispose of contaminated supplies as needed.
  • Communicate delays effectively when necessary.
  • Manage time efficiently to maintain patient flow.
  • Provide clerical support such as making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations, and answering telephones.
  • Manage medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels.
  • Keep relevant knowledge up-to-date and apply it to everyday practice.
  • Effectively communicate with all team members to support a cohesive work environment.
  • Enter patient information into the computer accurately.
  • Manage the physician's desktop accurately and in a timely manner.
