The Medical Assistant Training Program at Saint Luke's Health System is a comprehensive 10-week paid program designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge required for a career as a Medical Assistant. This program offers a unique opportunity to learn about various clinics within the Saint Luke's Physician Group, providing a well-rounded introduction to the healthcare environment. Participants will engage in a structured curriculum that includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles in patient care. During the first five weeks, participants will attend in-class didactic sessions covering critical topics such as body systems, pharmacology, medical terminology, and lab values. This foundational knowledge is crucial for understanding the medical field and effectively assisting healthcare professionals. Following the classroom instruction, weeks six to eight will involve clinical rotations under the guidance of experienced instructors, allowing participants to apply their learning in real-world settings. The final two weeks of the program will focus on home clinic orientation, where participants will work closely with a Success Coach to transition smoothly into their roles. This comprehensive training approach emphasizes not only the technical skills required for medical assisting but also the importance of customer service and patient safety, which are core values of Saint Luke's culture. By the end of the program, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS), to excel in their careers as Medical Assistants.
