About The Position

Medical Assistants (MA) are a valued member of the clinic care team. They are the first person to welcome a patient to the clinic and set the stage for a comfortable, caring experience. Tasks include patient rooming and information collecting, vital signs, updating medical records, assisting clinicians during procedures, performing hearing and vision screens, and other clinical and administrative tasks as assigned. Successful MAs thrive in a fast-paced team environment, have a strong work ethic, are professionalism and dependable. If the role of an MA sounds like the ideal healthcare career for you, the Dartmouth Health Career Institute (DHCI) can provide all the education and training you need to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. Our training program is a full-time, paid, benefits-eligible position. Additionally, there is no out-of-pocket cost for those selected to train to become a Medical Assistant through DHCI. The MA Trainee position begins with an accelerated 12-week training program which includes 7 college-level courses that provide trainees with required health sciences, professional and technical skills education. Trainees then sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Exam administered by the National Heathcareer Association (NHA) and move into a Dartmouth Health clinic to complete a 2,000-hour Registered Apprenticeship through the US Department of Labor to gain more skills and competencies with on-the-job training and mentorship. We are accepting applications through January 16, 2026 for the Spring MA Training Program which starts on March 2, 2026. The MA Training Program classroom is located in Lebanon, NH. Trainees are hired for a specific clinic at one of these Dartmouth Health member locations: Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, Lebanon, NH Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, Windsor, VT New London Hospital, New London, NH Newport Health Center, Newport, NH Ottaquechee Health Center, Woodstock, VT Valley Regional Hospital, Claremont, NH

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • BLS certification within 30-days of start date
