About The Position

Nevada Health Centers is growing and we are looking for an enthusiastic, people oriented Medical Assistant to join our Telehealth team in Las Vegas, NV or in Carson City, NV. This position is work from home and will occasionally travel within the Las Vegas or Carson City areas. MUST LIVE IN NEVADA. Nevada Health Centers is an employer of choice and offers comprehensive benefits, including but not limited to: The Telehealth Medical Assistant participates in the delivery of excellent medical services in a patient centered health home environment with an emphasis on the prevention of disease; preparation of the patient for examination and/or procedures; administers medications under direction of the provider; performs in-office procedures and lab procedures under direction of the telehealth provider; sterilizes instruments and ensures compliance with OSHA regulations. This position will actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice teams with these efforts. The telehealth medical assistant will also provide clinical support to the telehealth team, train other medical assistants who act as telehealth presenters in their clinics, travel to schools or other locations to train nurses, staff, or other medical assistants, and travel to other locations to present patients for telehealth.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • National Certification of completion of Medical Assistant program, or equivalent experience.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification (or agreement to have this completed within six months of employment in this position);
  • Telehealth experience preferred.
  • Experience in family practice, pediatrics, OB/GYN clinic preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for virtual examination and treatment
  • Take patient histories and vital signs
  • Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments
  • Maintain patient files, record and other information
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested
  • Work closely with the telehealth supervisor and/or providers to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients
  • Complete appropriate documentation in EHR on all patients treated
  • Maintain appropriate communication and good interpersonal skills with supervisors, staff and patients to ensure coordinated efforts and provision of high quality service
  • Utilize formal channels of communication to report concerns, personal requests and patient issues
  • Manage time effectively to complete all patient treatments and related activities as assigned
  • Maintain telehealth equipment in a clean and safe condition at all times
  • Demonstrate support to others by offering help, providing education, proficiency testing, etc.
  • Report to work properly dressed according to the approved dress code
  • Utilize equipment that interfaces with NVHC EMR system (e.g. telehealth endpoint and peripherals.)
  • Perform related work as required
  • Adhere to established telehealth workflows for the project that are consistent with organizational standards. Recommend modifications as you identify potential areas for
  • When working offsite, prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
  • Administer injections and applies dressings as instructed
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
  • Observe all infection control policies
  • Under the direction of the Supervisor of Telehealth, implement telehealth programs at project locations according to established implementation plans
  • In collaboration with IT, operational, clinical staff, Telehealth Project Manager or Director of Telehealth provide and/or coordinate clinical and non-clinical training for project participants (to include both the originating site staff and the distant site providers)
  • In collaboration with the marketing department, Telehealth Project Manager or Director of Telehealth, coordinate, manage, and/or participate in marketing opportunities for the project to include both printed services as well as on and off-site events
  • Collaborate with billing and coding leadership to supervise front desk staff
  • Facilitate proper billing in conjunction with the rev cycle team and front desk staff
  • Facilitate telehealth care pathways in conjunction with clinical leadership
  • Learn, follow, monitor, and educate others on telehealth workflows, policies and procedures
  • Performs other work-related duties
  • This position may require travel to both Northern rural and Southern Nevada.
  • Facilitate understanding of program protocols and policies with telehealth users, to include medical assistants, nurses, and providers
  • Arrange for and perform training of telehealth end users, providing proficiency testing, and maintaining training records
  • Mentor new telehealth program end users
  • Perform random quality assurance checks with participants, which could include review of documentation, review of protocols & procedures, and/or performance of ongoing training proficiencies
  • Facilitate telehealth workspace for providers in the telehealth department.
  • Routinely communicate program progress and/or concerns with the Telehealth Supervisor and/or Director of Telehealth
  • Complete coursework, learning conferences, or training as assigned by the Telehealth Supervisor and/or Director of Telehealth
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
  • Ensure proper computer policy and procedures are followed
  • Ensure cleanliness of work environment at all times
  • Performs other work-related duties as requested by the Telehealth Supervisor and/or Director of Telehealth
