About The Position

Health First Careers is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Medical Assistant/Surgical Scheduler to join our team in the Bariatric Surgery department at our Viera location in Brevard County, Florida. As a leading healthcare provider in the region, Health First is committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and creating a positive work environment for our employees. The Medical Assistant/Surgical Scheduler will be responsible for providing support to the Bariatric Surgery team by assisting with patient care and scheduling surgical procedures. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program and/or certification preferred
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or similar setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in computer skills and electronic medical records systems
  • Technical Diploma in Medical Assisting.
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) in the State of Florida.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
  • Must be able to pass colorblind testing to perform point-of-care (POC) tests requiring color change.
  • Strong customer service skills including knowledge of recovery techniques.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Keyboarding skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program and/or certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care by taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and documenting medical histories
  • Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
