About The Position

Baptist Health South Florida is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Surgical Orthopedics department. The Medical Assistant will work under the clinical supervision of the practice physician(s) and clinic supervisor/manager, assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, recording information in patients' charts/Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. The position also involves mentoring and training new medical assistants. The estimated pay range for this position is $17.53 - $24.90 per hour depending on experience. The schedule is Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Must have at least one of the required licenses/certifications (MA, CNA, LPN, EMT, Paramedic).
• BLS certification required.
• Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment efficiently.
• Proficient typing skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual preferred.
• Knowledge of Health Care regulatory guidelines and Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in the practice.
• Room patients and obtain information.
• Measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximeter, pain level, weight, and height).
• Record information on patients' charts/Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Mentor and train new medical assistants.
