About The Position

The Medical Assistant Sr (Orthopedics) at Nemours is a full-time role based in Lakeland, Florida, responsible for providing essential support in a pediatric orthopedic clinic. Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of one (1) year Medical Assistance experience required.
• Specialized training (1 year beyond high school) is required.
• Healthcare and Customer Service experience required.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• AHA BLS Certification within three months of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in pediatric care settings.
• Knowledge of orthopedic procedures and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow and review charts for current information.
• Ensure appropriate paperwork accompanies the patient to the room.
• Enter pertinent patient history and act as a resource for the care team.
• Serve as a trainer and mentor to new associates.
• Perform clinical procedures including aseptic procedures and taking vital signs.
• Prepare patients for the provider's care and assist with examinations/treatments.
• Operate required medical equipment and perform routine laboratory specimen collection.
• Obtain authorizations for tests and therapies as per insurance policies.
• Deliver excellent customer service focusing on family-centered care.
• Act as a liaison between support services and clinical divisions.
