About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant at Mercy Health plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care in a specialty clinic setting. This position involves working closely with primary care physicians to ensure that services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines, while also maintaining accurate health records and preparing treatment rooms for examinations.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED.
  • Active Medical Assisting certification from an accredited organization (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or ABR-OE).
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire for certain locations).
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required).
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required).
  • Possesses problem-solving skills and basic computer skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
  • Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date.
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed.
  • Possesses the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
