About The Position

The Specialist will be responsible for ensuring all Medical Assistant processes and procedures are current and consistently communicated to the team. In addition, they will provide coverage during PTO or sick leave and cover effectively with all providers to maintain smooth clinic operations. Additionally, the Specialist will be expected to travel from time to time to different office locations as coverage needs arise. Provide clinical office support to neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners, and pain management physicians.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, graduate of Medical Assisting program preferred
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, not required
  • Practical knowledge of neurosurgical procedures and medical office processes
  • Proficient in clinical office duties
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in fast paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving, problem prevention, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to convey empathy

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical office support to neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners, and pain management physicians.
  • Ensuring all Medical Assistant processes and procedures are current and consistently communicated to the team.
  • Provide coverage during PTO or sick leave and cover effectively with all providers to maintain smooth clinic operations.
  • Travel from time to time to different office locations as coverage needs arise.
  • Help develop and maintain a corporate culture that supports the mission and values of Mayfield Clinic
  • Prepare patient chart before office by gathering all test results, films, and reports and uploading them in the correct section of the chart.
  • Comply with medical records standards by completing allergy notations, problem lis,t and concomitant medication sheet.
  • Ensure patient completion of medical history.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in clinic office practice and perform clinical services. This includes suture/staple removal, dressing changes, vital signs, injections, and operation of EMG equipment, if required.
  • Interview new patients and verify medical histories before being seen by the physician/provider.
  • If applicable, schedule and pre-certify outpatient testing.
  • Ensure the patient is instructed regarding scheduled tests with the date, time, place, and special instructions.
  • Serve as a liaison between the physician and the patient by providing the patient with instruction from the physician, advising the physician of the patients needs, and assuring that the physician is available to the patient whenever necessary, in person or by telephone.
  • Complete appropriate form/documents as directed by physicians, i.e., C-84, Return to Work, and Release of Medical Information
