About The Position

Are you looking for an exciting, busy office with opportunity to grow and learn? The UPMC Children Specialty Services department is looking for a new Medical Assistant Senior to join their team. This is a multi-specialty pediatric clinic; therefore, this employee must be comfortable with children. This Medical Assistant Sr. will rotate up to 10 different specialties, and they could see up to 60+ patients a day! This employee will be cross trained on front office duties. This employee would need to be comfortable with traveling to the Harrisburg, Chambersburg, and Lancaster offices depending on the staffing needs of the office. Must have reliable transportation and milage reimbursement is included. Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., no weekends or holidays! The salary range for this position is $18.49 - $27.76 based on experience. This position qualifies for a $1500.00 sign on bonus as well. Apply today to find out where your career can take you! The Medical Assistant will assist physicians with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT)
  • OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA)
  • OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required.
  • Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks.
  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure room.
  • Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
  • Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
  • Relay instructions to patients/families.
  • Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
  • Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
  • Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
  • Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
  • Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
  • Check schedules and organizing patient flow.
  • Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
  • Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
  • Assist physicians with procedures.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
  • Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
  • Other front office responsibilities, as required.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
