About The Position

The Medical Assistant Registered in our Family Medicine Clinic plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive patient care by supporting physicians and healthcare staff in a fast-paced clinical environment. This position ensures the smooth operation of daily clinical activities by preparing patients for examinations, recording vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures. The role requires effective communication with patients of all ages, providing education and reassurance while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. The Medical Assistant Registered also manages administrative tasks such as updating medical records and coordinating patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the quality of care and patient satisfaction within the family medicine setting.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in a clinical or family medicine setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in family medicine or primary care clinics.
  • Additional certifications such as phlebotomy or EKG technician.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing and coding procedures.
  • Strong bilingual communication skills, especially in Spanish.
  • Advanced training in patient education and chronic disease management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting symptoms.
  • Assist physicians and nursing staff during patient examinations and minor procedures.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Schedule patient appointments, manage referrals, and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medication instructions, and preventive healthcare measures.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and clinic policies.
  • Manage clinical supplies inventory and ensure proper sterilization of medical instruments.
