About The Position

Christie Clinic's department of Neurology is seeking a PRN (as needed) Medical Assistant/Receptionist at the University clinic between the hours of Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. Duties include performance of skills through the delivery of patient care using a systematic patient assessment. Job Qualifications and Expectations

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
CPR Certification

Nice To Haves

Previous health care experience
Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate and/or graduation from an accredited program for medical assistants and/or ABORE certification.

Responsibilities

Stock supplies in carts and cabinets and necessary instruments prior to appointment.
Clean chairs following appointments and at the end of the day.
Assist patients to the Infusion Chair, perform vitals and weight of patient.
Enter information into the EMR.
Maintain and update patient medical record upon visit including allergies, medications, etc. and enter into the electronic medical record.
Clerical work: answer incoming patient phone calls and messages, check out process to include scheduling tests and follow up visits, initiate and track outgoing referrals and insurance authorizations, verify medication refills for accuracy and forward to provider to sign
Act as a liaison between patient and provider in order to communicate questions, test results, and provider instructions
Review and respond to the electronic medical record work list per department standard work.
Complete lab order entries and appropriately handle patient specimens (including communication to patient per department standard work), as needed.
Assists providers with procedures/surgery, as needed.
Assist in patient education relating to medication instructions, procedures, wound care or any other necessary information pertaining to patient care.
Perform related work as required.
