About The Position

The Medical Assistant/Receptionist at North American Mental Health Services (NAMHS) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and maintaining professionalism in a medical setting. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including patient check-in, vital sign assessment, documentation, and coordination of care, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and ethically.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED certification.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Check PA schedules daily for due UDT and prepare charts.
  • Run CUREs reports for each patient prescribed control medications.
  • Take vitals upon patient check-in: height, weight, BP, oxygen level, chief complaint, drug and food allergies, and record in the patient chart.
  • Record and document all pertinent patient information.
  • Sanitize all vital stations.
  • Collect urine/oral toxicology samples.
  • Submit toxicology orders on Millennium and arrange for UPS pick-up.
  • Collect genetic testing as requested.
  • Administer injections.
  • Prepare samples for patients and log medications in and out of the sample closet.
  • Check out patients and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • If EKG/lab work is needed, direct the patient on where to complete it.
  • Contact labs for blood work and all test results.
  • Process and complete all medication refill requests.
  • Call in all final prescription refills for patients as assigned.
  • Process treatment authorization requests and prior authorization requests.
  • Schedule injection and medication shipments.
  • Maintain medical supply inventory.
  • Complete monthly medication inventory audit.
  • Communicate and coordinate immediate care for patients in crisis.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with pharmaceutical representatives.
  • Schedule pharmaceutical representative meetings and luncheons.
  • Check messages and respond to patients in a timely manner within 24 hours.
  • Uphold HIPPA standards.
  • Cover receptionist role and responsibilities when needed.
  • Maintain superior communication with staff, both administrative and clinical, and the management team.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.
