About The Position

Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System is looking for a full time Medical Assistant/Receptionist in our Outpatient Department. The position involves managing day-to-day clinical operations, supervising front desk staff, and ensuring the smooth flow of outpatient clinical activities. The role requires both administrative and clinical duties, including managing patient appointments, handling medical records, and performing clinical tasks such as triaging patients and taking vital signs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish-English.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Diplomacy and discretion are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance required.
  • Active Medical Assistant License in the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day clinical operations and coordinate the outpatient clinical flow.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to all front desk staff.
  • Serve as a trainer and role model for clinical skills.
  • Manage all the outpatient Mental Health programs schedules and patient’s appointments.
  • Monitor and track appropriate business hours.
  • Handle all necessary prior-authorizations including medications and DCFS.
  • Manage Medical Records.
  • Transmit prescription refill requests and act as a liaison between pharmacies and providers.
  • Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies.
  • Handle billing and insurance.
  • Triage in-person patients with vital signs, chief complaints, and active medication list.
  • Measure vital signs: blood pressure, heart rate, height, and weight.
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKG.
  • Prepare and deliver intramuscular and/or subcutaneous injections under supervision.
  • Manage outpatient, IOP, and PHP labs and lab reports under supervision.
  • Knowledge of billing and coding.
