About The Position

The Medical Assistant PRN position is a part-time role based in Prescott Valley, AZ, focused on providing support in a clinic environment. This role is as needed and not full-time. The Medical Assistant will facilitate communication between patients and providers, prepare patients for visits, and maintain exam room standards. Responsibilities include collecting and documenting patient information, assisting with medical forms, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in orthopedics, spine surgery, or pain management preferred.
  • Graduated from a formal training program within the last 12-18 months and have the CMA certificate, or is grandfathered in as defined by State regulation.
  • Must pass the MA competency exam within the first six months of employment.
  • Active Medical Assistant certification (RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA) with proof of current membership.
  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments, knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software.
  • BLS certification required.
  • High school diploma/GED and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in an outpatient physical therapy clinic.
  • Experience with orthopedics.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider during patient care.
  • Collects and shares pertinent information with the provider.
  • Receives and acts on directives from the provider.
  • Prepares the patient for visits, including rooming patients and obtaining vitals.
  • Maintains exam room standards, including restocking and cleaning.
  • Monitors biohazard and sharps containers.
  • Assists the provider in preparing patient prescriptions and completing medical forms.
  • Retrieves and responds to voicemails within 24 business hours.
  • Prepares patient electronic charts for clinic visits.
  • Verifies outstanding testing results in EMR.
  • Scans clinical documents into EMR.
  • Prints clinic schedules on the morning of the date of service.
  • Ensures patient receives education as indicated by the provider.
  • Manages EMR desktops of assigned providers.
  • Acts as PTO Buddy per clinic plan.
  • Creates and promotes a positive patient experience.
  • Maintains a HIPAA compliant environment.
  • Maintains a clean workspace.
