About The Position

Medical Assistant – Primary Care Location: Niles, Ohio Employment Type: Full-Time (4 Days Per Week) Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM Join the Southwoods Team: Southwoods Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for our Primary Care office in Niles. In this role, you will partner with physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, comprehensive patient care. This position offers a perfect balance of clinical and administrative duties within a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with a diploma.
  • Must maintain an active credential (or be eligible to obtain) through one of the following: RMA (American Medical Technologists) CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) CCMA (National Healthcareer Association)
  • Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program with a diploma. Active certification through one of the following: RMA (American Medical Technologists) CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) CCMA (National Healthcareer Association) Minimum of one (1) year of direct work experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Create a welcoming environment and room patients efficiently using two-patient identifiers.
  • Clinical Support: Obtain and record vital signs, chief complaints, medications, and allergies accurately in the EMR.
  • Lab Coordination: Collect and prepare specimens for transport following strict safety and identification protocols.
  • Communication: Promptly report critical lab values, adverse reactions, and pertinent patient information to the physician.
  • Administrative Excellence: Assist with scheduling, phone inquiries, and medical record maintenance.
  • Compliance: Ensure all practice processes meet the standards of regulatory agencies while advocating for patient rights.
