About The Position

University Health Services (UHS) is seeking to hire two Medical Assistants to join our Primary Care team. In this essential role, you will support providers and nurses in delivering high‑quality, student‑centered care. Medical Assistants play a key part in maintaining smooth clinic operations by performing a combination of clinical and administrative duties, helping create an efficient and welcoming environment for every patient. You will have opportunities to work in multiple areas such as primary care, gynecology, sexual health, and community health. This is a full‑time position (1.0 FTE). This position is structured with an annual 12-week summer schedule reduction to 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week), which occurs each year during a designated summer period determined by UHS. Standard hours outside the summer reduction period are Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00pm. Work Schedule Regular Schedule (Outside Summer Reduction Period) 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm Annual Summer Schedule Reduction Each year, the position is scheduled at 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) during a designated summer reduction period. Exact dates are determined annually by UHS. The day/hours per day during the reduced FTE period will be determined by UHS based on operational need. Schedule Based on Start Date Because this position's start date occurs during the summer reduction period: You will begin the role at 0.5 FTE (20 hours/week) with workdays set by UHS based on operational need. Upon conclusion of the summer reduction period, you will shift to the standard 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) schedule. Monday – Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (must be valid prior to start date)
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working in a healthcare setting

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care environment
  • At least one year of work experience in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated ability to perform patient care procedures according to established protocols, ensuring safe and consistent outcomes.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant program and/or certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine vital signs, basic tests, assists with minor procedures, and administers medications as directed by a supervising clinician
  • Performs administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, assisting patients with billing, and coding information and answering basic medical questions
  • Collects, prepares, and delivers specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Prepares and cleans examination rooms, instruments, and equipment for specific procedures
  • Escorts patients to various hospital locations and delivers, orders, and inventories general clinic supplies
