This Medical Assistant position in Primary Care involves providing comprehensive clinical support, focusing on patient preparation, clinical assistance, safety, documentation, care coordination, and quality improvement. Key responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, updating patient histories, performing medication reconciliation, and assisting providers with various procedures such as physical exams, gynecological exams, minor procedures, wound care, LARC procedures, EKG, nebulizer treatments, and audiology/tympanometry. The role emphasizes strict adherence to the scope of practice, performing CLIA-waived testing, preparing and administering medications and immunizations, and maintaining accurate and timely EHR documentation. The Medical Assistant will also communicate provider-directed results, reinforce patient education, and follow infection control and equipment safety protocols while maintaining patient privacy. Furthermore, the role requires effective communication and collaboration with patients, families, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary care team, including scheduling procedures, initiating referrals, and participating in referral tracking and follow-up. The position also contributes to Quality Improvement initiatives, assists with data entry for reporting, identifies care gaps, and participates in huddles and staff meetings. Maintaining a clean clinical environment, completing logs, managing clinical equipment, and supporting desktop/workflow functions are also part of the role. Professional accountability includes maintaining BLS certification, committing to ongoing professional development, and fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and respectful communication.
