About The Position

Norman Regional Primary Care focuses on high quality, comprehensive preventative care and is seeking patient-friendly individuals to join their diverse, patient-centered, and community-focused team. It is a high-paced, high-volume department with engaged leadership, offering opportunities for advancement, comprehensive coordinated care, and additional educational opportunities. Norman Regional Health System (NRHS) is undergoing a transformational expansion project prioritizing outpatient care and population health. The Medical Assistant screens patients, obtains pertinent information, and assists the physician or advanced practitioner during patient visits in accordance with age-specific needs. They also assist in all aspects of patient care and communication as instructed, maintain exam rooms and the work environment, and provide general support to the clinic.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited program in Medical Assistant Training or equivalent experience required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained for duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year experience in a clinical or physician-office setting, emergency room and/or a hospital setting that provides patient care.
  • Medical office, insurance, referral and prior authorization, hospital or computer experience.
  • Experience in office clerical activities desirable.
  • CMA or RMA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screens patient and obtains pertinent information.
  • Assists physician or advanced practitioner during patient visit in accordance with age specific needs.
  • Assists the physician or advanced practitioner in all aspects of patient care and communication as instructed.
  • Maintains the exam rooms and work environment.
  • Provides support to the clinic as needed.
