About The Position

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 1 year of Medical Assistant experience or 1 year in a direct patient care role.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 Criminal Background Clearance Certificates.
  • Certification from an accepted Medical Assistant Certification body (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA) within specified time frames.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of patient care under supervision of the healthcare provider.
  • Prepare and room patients according to standardized workflows, obtaining vital signs and documenting patient information.
  • Assist in the administration of depression screening tools and complete annual wellness visit screenings.
  • Review and update medication lists in the EHR and screen social history with patients.
  • Pend orders for screenings, prescriptions, and other orders based on approved protocols.
  • Perform back office testing following approved protocols and policies.
  • Assist providers with examinations and procedures, potentially serving as a scribe with additional training.
  • Provide follow-up with patients via their preferred method in accordance with provider instructions.
  • Prepare exam rooms for patient visits and ensure adequate inventory of medical supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments according to established policies and guidelines.
  • Accurately perform lab controls and equipment checks as assigned.
  • Administer and document medications in accordance with policy and safe practice.
  • Document accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) according to established standards.
  • Perform clerical office functions and other duties as assigned.
  • May require floating/travel between physician office locations.
