About The Position
The Primary Care Medical Assistant prepares patients for visits with providers by completing the Advanced Standard room process. This includes entering the chief complaint, taking patient vital signs, reviewing patient history and allergies, and completing a thorough medication reconciliation. The Medical Assistant works with the Encounter Guide to help close any open care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exams. They also recheck elevated blood pressures and complete needed documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits as required. Additionally, the Medical Assistant assists with in-office testing, which may include drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKGs, walking oxygen studies, and point of care testing. They are responsible for administering vaccines and other injections within their scope of practice, scheduling follow-up appointments as needed, and collaborating with providers and the clinical care team to monitor and coordinate the delivery of the care plan.
