About The Position

Saint Joseph Health System is a not-for-profit, multi-hospital health system located in North Central Indiana. Our system includes a 254-bed acute-care hospital at the Mishawaka Medical Center, a 58-bed acute-care hospital at the Plymouth Medical Center, and more than 85 providers in the Saint Joseph Physician Network. The position involves assisting the ambulatory care setting physician or other professional healthcare provider with the administration of direct and indirect patient care, performing basic medical assisting procedures necessary to provide for care, comfort, and safety of patients.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent and/or graduate of a one-year medical assistant program or an accredited two-year medical assisting program.
• Certification and/or registration as a medical assistant through AAMA, AMT, NCCT or NHA or able to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• CPR certification or able to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• One to three years' experience in a medical or physician office preferred.
• Basic business office, clinical skills, and computer skills preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience/training in general medical office skills and procedures.
• Proficient/knowledgeable in medical terminology.
