About The Position

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Medical Assistant with Patient Representative responsibilities to join our pediatric after-hours care team. In this role, you will support our healthcare team by preparing patients for appointments, assisting with medical procedures, and handling a variety of administrative tasks. You will be the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring a smooth and positive experience from check-in to checkout. We are looking for part-time employment, around 30 hours a week, with early morning availability. This is an after-hours position, including early morning and weekend shifts. Flexibility is required to accommodate office needs. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or certification in a healthcare-related field preferred).
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or other relevant certification).
  • 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or pediatric setting preferred.
  • Proficient in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adherence to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality.
  • CPR certification
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pediatrics or pediatric urgent care settings.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in patient representative or customer service roles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for their appointments, including performing vital signs, measuring height/weight, and rooming patients.
  • Conduct Point of Care testing as directed by the Registered Nurse (RN) or healthcare provider
  • Accurately document care and test results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Review incoming faxes and forms and route them to the appropriate provider.
  • Monitor completion of diagnostic tests and assist in communicating normal results to patients and parents.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and verify patient information.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out processes, including handling insurance and personal details.
  • Assist with billing by entering charges, collecting and posting payments, and resolving patient balances.
  • Process medical records requests and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Address patient inquiries regarding appointments, insurance, billing, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and office space.
  • Stock supplies and ensure rooms are properly set up and sanitized according to protocols.
  • Clean and disinfect medical instruments and equipment.
  • Perform quality control and assist in end-of-day office processing tasks.
  • Maintain CPR certification and be prepared to provide CPR when necessary.
  • Contribute to the overall upkeep of office space and equipment.
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed to support the healthcare team.
