About The Position

The Medical Assistant / Patient Representative plays a crucial role in providing healthcare services under the supervision of physicians and nurses. This position involves performing routine clinical tasks, participating in patient education, and maintaining accurate patient documentation. The role is essential for ensuring patient care is delivered effectively and efficiently in a family practice setting.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
• 2+ years of professional medical assisting experience in a practice setting is preferred.
• National/Registered Medical Assistant Certification or obtain certification within 90 days of hire date.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and use discretion when discussing patient information.
• Implement patient care under the guidance of physicians and office managers.
• Screen phone calls during triage under physician supervision.
• Perform intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections with complete documentation.
• Assist physicians and medical assistants in providing nursing care to patients according to clinic policies.
• Take patient history and vitals.
• Check for expired medication monthly, keeping documentation and disposal records.
• Unpack and maintain medical supplies and vaccines, keeping the supply closet organized.
• Assist in prescription refills via fax, E-Rx, or phone calls and update in the patient medication module.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge and practice of infection control procedures.
• Clean and disinfect all instruments and maintain QA reports for the autoclave.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
